Great portions, prices, p...food (I wanted it to begin with a p too darn it!) It is a hole in the wall, no frills, but one of the more tasty authentic mexican eateries I've tried in GR. This would be my #3 in GR, La Huasteca being #2 and La Taqueria San Jose #1 (for just food alone). Family owned, which is always a plus in my book. Friendly, efficient service and good value. Wish they had margaritas then it'd be P-erfect!

Delicious food and good prices! I recently moved from CA and was unsure about finding good mexican food here, but this is a great place. I will definitely be going back!

:( this use to be the best place for Mexican food! But today the service was horrible, my food was bad & under cooked. We killed a cockroach & told the waitress she just said, "well its warm out". What!? Eeww... LOL. I will never be back to what was once my favorite Mexican spot. :(

We had a very enjoyable visit for late lunch. Service was spot on and friendly. It's a very clean hole in the wall location with its own charm. The menu is gigantic and based on other reviews, they can pull it off. The food was fantastic with flavors throughout dish. I had the chicken enchiladas and chili rellenos. Photos above and we will be back!

Service and food got too bad to stop for a meal while in GR for a visit. Sorry - you were once so good!

You don't eat here for the atmosphere, you go for the food. It's a dive to look at, in a out-of-the way neighborhood. The service is attentive, the portions generous, and the prices reasonable. I had the daily special and enjoyed it.

It's got some good food; the seafood is pretty tasty. Veggie chimichangas are always a hit. And the taco platter is a delicious dish of a deal.

This is great authentic mexican food! I have not yet had anything that I did not love. It is a must try. This is a "take out" type of place with amazing food!

The best Mexican place I have been to in Grand Rapids. A definite hole in the wall. I had a vegetarian chimichanga and it was so good (but isn't everything deep fried?). It is a BYOB establishment which was fine with me. Just don't have high expectations about the decor or atmosphere.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
